One of the things Kate and I always do when overseas is look for the best walks. This is not always easy as some local knowledge is usually required. Staying at Lothlorien means you don't have to worry about any of that.

Tramping (Hiking) in our local mountains is nothing short of magical and can range from an easy stroll along a river to an overnight stay in a DOC (Department of Conservation) hut after a serious climb with a pack. This could easily be attractive to the keen fisherman who will find some very fine trout in the rivers. Check out this link. On a good day, the Mt Holdsworth- Jumbo walk can't be beat. (Walking Tracks of Wellington and Wairarapa). It is however best to wait for a good day and we will take you to and from the tracks, provide you with much of the gear required including a selection of warm clothing (though we do recommend you have your own walking boots) and will be happy to come with you if you like. As on all of the excursions you avail yourself of while at Lothlorien, we will provide you with a cell phone for safety and to let me know when to collect you. For those with a sense of adventure and want to see some real New Zealand scenery, I strongly recommend you set aside some time to see some of our 'bush'.
